The Italian word “Regola” means rule: “an accepted principle or instruction that states the way things are or should be done, and tells you what you are allowed or are not allowed to do.” Rules are critical in type design—guiding the entire process—from research to final design. Regola is a geo–grotesque face combining typical aspects of geometric and grotesque typefaces. These features ensure the font is modern and contemporary, and the strong form and grotesque detail make it harmonious for both text and headline. Regola is the result of research that arose from geometric letterforms of the 20s and 30s, akin to Erbar and Neuzeit Grotesk, arriving in contemporary flavor of Avenir, Neuzeit S and AG Schoolbook. Currently the family consists of 4 weights (Book, Regular, Medium, Bold) with italics. A future release will include a heavier weight.
