When we’ve been asked to conceive a direction for the new Tacchini identity, we designed the catalogue as a possibility for the company to curate some original contributions from relevant artists that would have shared the same values of Tacchini, and the involvement with artistic and cultural word. We commissioned Lena C. Emery, the renowned fashion photographer, a series that would have mixed the visual language of her photography with the charismatic design of the classic Castiglioni chair Babela, now produced by Tacchini. The result was an outstanding dialogue between photography and design.
German born Lena C. Emery, grew up in Singapore and graduated with a BA of Fine Arts at Parsons School of Design in Paris, before working as print designer for different international high fashion brands and eventually dedicating herself fully to her photographic work in 2010. Since then Emery has collaborated with the likes of Wallpaper, Kaleidoscope, Modern Matter, i-D and The Gentlewoman. She is also a regular contributor to ArtReview.
