‘Out of the Blue’ is an idiomatic expression in English that describes an event that occurs unexpectedly. The blue refers to the sky in which something unexpected suddenly appears. Taken literally, something comes forth ‘out of the blue’ or ‘emerges from the blue’, as though the color blue in this study might assume its own physical form. The collection of sculptures investigates the correspondence between sunlight and the surface, through the study of form.

Studiopepe, the renowned multidisciplinary creative agency based in Milan, asked us to collaborate to their exhibition ‘Out of the Blue’ during Fuorisalone 2016, designing 8 risograph printed posters inspired by the shapes of their sculptures. Then we designed also a 230 × 320 mm brochure with photographs by Andrea Ferrari and a text by Angelo Flaccavento, as well as the graphic design for the exhibition, typesetted with a customized version of our Studio Pro font.
